“She’s having an impromptu conference call. I thought she would had been done by now.” Lamar said.

She gave me a bright smile before going back to her conversation.

  “Where’s Daddy?” MJ asked.

“Right here, buddy.” Morgan said as he walked in. He let go of me as Morgan came and grabbed him. He gave him a huge hug which made MJ smile.

“I needed that little man. That and a kiss from your mom.” He said while staring at me.

“That can be arranged.” I said as I came over to him. I leaned over and gave him a quick kiss.

“The door was unlocked, so I came in. Next time, try to have it locked, please.”

“Of course, I guess we forgot.” Lamar said.

“You never know who could be lurking around here.” Morgan continued. He gave an uneasy glance at Lamar and me, which had me feeling the same way again. What is with the glances?

“I take it that you had a bad day?” I asked.

“You can say that. I just found out something regarding one of our cases.”

  “I know you can’t talk about it…”

“This one I actually can, but not here, okay.”

My anxiety was going to an all-time high as Morgan ran a hand through his hair. He excused himself as he went to the bathroom.

“Lamar, can you watch MJ please?” I asked while following Morgan.

“Come here, little man.” Lamar said as MJ slowly walked to him. As they started playing, I opened the door as Morgan was using the bathroom. He sighed as I closed the door.

“Didn’t you just scold us for having the front door unlocked?”

“The bathroom door was locked!” He snapped.

“So, I may have picked it, but that’s beside the point.”

Morgan scoffed. “Hayley, why are you in here?”

  “Because we need to talk,”

“Can it wait? I’m taking a piss.”

“And you need to stop giving me a damn attitude! You know that shit doesn’t fly with me.”

Morgan finished and flushed the toilet. He went over to wash his hands while staring at me in the mirror. I folded my arms across my chest, waiting on him to respond.

“Are you going to tell me what’s going on?”

Morgan dried his hands before turning around. “I told you I will. But not right now.”

“Baby, whatever it is, you can talk to me.”

Morgan leaned his back against the sink as I came up to him. I stared into his eyes as he gave a long sigh.

“Serge gave me some surprising news today. It’s about Travis.”

I put my hands into his as he took another deep breath. “Baby, Travis is being released early from prison.”

I stared at him, not knowing what to say. “You can’t be serious.”

“It’s true. Since he’s been a good boy in prison, the judge felt the need to reduce his sentence.”

“Do you know when he’ll be released?”

He shook his head. “I don’t have a clue.”

Morgan pulled me in his arms as I stared at the mirror. Just when I thought we could live a normal life, now this shit happens.

“We don’t know for sure if he’ll come after us, but we need to be prepared. We will have security for ourselves as well as for our families. We just can’t take any chances.”

“When did this happen? There was concrete evidence to put him behind bars!”

“I know, but evidentially the judge thinks otherwise.”

  “Is he bribing him?”

“That’s the same thing I asked Serge. Something just doesn’t seem right about this.”

“When has anything in our lives has?”

“Which you’re probably blaming me for; when we got together, I told you I would protect you. No matter what, I will keep you and MJ safe.”

“I don’t blame you for any of this. I know you will protect us, baby, just like I will for you. Remember, I’ll ride with you…”

“Until the wheels fall off.” Morgan finished.

He put his hand in my hair as he slowly kissed me. I held him tighter as he deepened the kiss. He turned me around so my back could be against the sink. He pulled me up to sit down as I unbuckle his belt. He pulled down my panties and kicked them near the toilet.

“You did lock the door, right?” he whispered.

  “Of course.”

As soon as he plunged into me, I had to hold onto him. The sensation was already making me want to cum.

Morgan undid the buttons to my dress and pulled down my bra. He took my breasts, easing one into his mouth. I titled my head, almost hitting the back of it on the mirror.

“Damn baby, I know it’s good, but don’t hurt yourself.” He teased as he continued to go in me.

I couldn’t even speak as his strokes were leaving me breathless. I pulled up his shirt and dug my nails into his back, causing him to moan.

He knew I was about to cum, so he slid my ass to the edge of the sink, and roughly kissed me. The kiss was so intense that he bit my bottom lip, making my orgasm even more sensational.

He held onto me as he came as well. He wouldn’t let me go as he breathed into my hair.

  “I needed that.” He whispered.

I couldn’t control my breathing as I pulled him closer to me. We stared at each other and I touched his cheek.

“We both needed that. So much has been happening.”

  “Do you love me?”

I gave him a concerned look, wondering where the hell that came from.

“Morgan, no matter what is going on I will never stop loving you. Don’t even think twice about that.”

“You could have been with that guy you were dating at Thompson. I’m sure your life would have been perfect. He was too much of a punk to do anything bad.”

“Morgan, stop. I didn’t want him then and I certainly don’t want anyone else now. I chose you because I was in love with you since I was five. I’m still in love with you. You know how long I’d fought to get you? I’m not letting you go.”

  “You mean that?”

I smiled. “I mean it, Morgan.”

Someone was knocking on the door which made us both jump.

“Is everything okay in there?” Lamar asked.

“Yeah, everything’s cool. We’ll be out in a sec.” I said.

I jumped off the sink as Morgan got himself together. He glanced at me and smiled. “Seeing you cum, never gets old.”

I smiled. “The same with you.”

Morgan waited until I got myself together before leaving the bathroom. He grabbed my panties and put them in his pocket.

  “I need those.”

“You’ll be alright for right now. Remember that dinner which I made you cum? I still can’t get that image out of my head.”

I shook my head. “Which my parents still don’t know about.”

“If MJ and Ophelia weren’t around, I would have given you a repeat performance.”

I smiled. “I think doing it in the bathroom was enough, don’t you think?”

“No, it’s not enough. It’s never enough with you. But let’s get out of here before someone breaks the door down.”

I smiled as Morgan unlocked and opened the door. Lamar was standing outside giving us a crazed look. “Really you two! In our parents’ house?”

“We were just talking.” I said.

“Oh really, Morgan, fix your pants.”

He sighed and went back into the bathroom. I glanced at Lamar who shook his head.

“Please don’t go into big brother mode right now.”

“I’m not. Despite everything, I’m still happy that you and Morgan are together. He’s going to need you more than ever right now.”

I nodded. I knew Lamar knew something about Travis being released, but I’ll let him slide on this one.

“Come on, Mom and Dad wondering where you two are.”

I nodded and waited for Morgan to come out. As soon as he did, he lightly brus
hed against me and put my hand into his. “Let’s go have a normal dinner with the family.”

I nodded. We can worry about Travis later.

  Morgan

Once we all sat down for dinner, everyone was relaxed and was having a great time. After a day like today, it felt good to be surrounded around my family. I have always considered the Stevens my family since I was a little kid, which I’m still grateful for to this day.

After we ate, Zoe went back into the kitchen while Cedric instructed everyone to go into the living room. We sat down as he began to speak.

“First, your mom and I want to say thank you all for coming to dinner tonight. We know everyone is busy now, so I’m glad you all cleared your schedules to spend time with us.”

“Of course, Dad.” Hayley said and smiled. I looked at her as I noticed a small cut on her lip. I guess I was bit too rough on her. She looked at me, letting me know it was okay.

“There was a reason that we brought you all here tonight; it’s regarding the company. As you may know, I have been hinting that I was retiring soon but now, I think that time has come. I want to spend more time with my family and with Ophelia being so small, I want to be with her and watch her grow up. That’s something I didn’t really do with Hales and Lamar, which I apologize for.”

“You were there for us, Dad. Don’t think that you weren’t.” Lamar said.

“Well, I made my decision and I wanted to share with you all first before I inform the employees. Not only will I be retiring, but I’m turning the entire business over to Lamar.”

Lamar glanced at Cedric with a look that read, ‘What the hell’. Zoe walked in carrying a tray filled with champagne flutes. She handed each of us one and gave the kids a juice cup.

“Are you serious? You want me to take over the business? What about Bryce? He’s been there longer than me. He’s already pissed that I was appointed president.” Lamar stressed.

I remembered Lamar mentioning a couple of times about the VP, Bryce Hopkins. He already didn’t like Lamar since he was eased into the company because of his dad. He’s been giving him a hard time since he started with the company.

“Lamar, you earned that position. Bryce knows it, that’s why he’s jealous. Don’t ever give him the satisfaction and do what you do best. I know you will take the company to the next level.”

Lamar looked at Zoe, who gave him a huge smile. “Congratulations, baby.”

He stared at Tamara, who gave him a huge hug. “I’m so proud of you, Lamar.”

Hayley got up and hugged him as well.

I stood up and gave him a brotherly hug. “Look at you, Mr. CEO. Couldn’t have happened to a better man.”

Lamar smiled. “Thank you, bro. I appreciate that.”

Once everyone toasted to Lamar’s promotion, Lamar motioned for me to come outside. We walked out into the night air as Lamar drowned his champagne.

“You got anything in your car? I need something stronger.”

“You do know I’m a cop, right?”

“Is that supposed to mean something?”

I rolled my eyes and sighed. “What’s going on? Is it about your promotion?”

Lamar leaned on his car and sighed. “I don’t deserve it. I mean, I do deserve it, but a small part of me feels I only got it because my last name is Stevens. Do you think people will take me seriously that I’m running the company?”

“Have they taken you seriously when you started at Stevens Corporation? Mar, let your work speak for itself. Just because your name is Stevens doesn’t mean you get a pass. Your father saw the potential you have and offered you the position. He didn’t hand it to you. You earned it.”

“What if I mess up? I don’t want my dad blaming me if the company goes under.”

“Who’s to say that it will? Stop thinking negative, Mar.”

Lamar stared at me before looking at the night sky. “I still think about everything that we’ve been through and now that Travis is being released, what if my past is coming back to haunt me? Someone could use that to their advantage to get me ousted.”

“With that, just take it one day at a time. But as for you and the company, give it a chance. You’ll do great.”

I gave Lamar a slap on the back and he smiled. “Thanks, man. I guess I needed to hear that.”

  “Anytime.”

“You told Hales about Travis? At least she took it well.”

“She did. I just don’t know how things will go.”

  “You’re worried, aren’t you?”

I stared out the window, seeing Hales inside playing with MJ and Ophelia. I took a deep breath and sighed.

“I am. I don’t know what I’ll do if anything happens to her or MJ.”

“Just don’t disappear like you did when she got shot.” Lamar pointed out.

“I won’t. I just want to keep them safe.”

“Just like I want to with Tam… and we will.”

“I can’t believe this shit is happening.”

“But who’s to say that it will?”

I stared at Lamar, who gave a tiny grin. “Unfortunately, this is happening. Serge confirmed it today. But get this, he believes that Travis may be connected to the bank robberies that have been happening recently. If that’s true, his ass will be back behind bars soon.”

  “That’s good, isn’t it? But I have a feeling there’s something else?”

I didn’t know if I should tell Lamar about Demetria. I didn’t want to be spreading rumors if it wasn’t true.

  “What is it, Morgan?”

“Serge mentioned that Travis may have been in contact with Demetria. She might be connected to the robberies as well.”

  “What?!”

“It’s crazy, right? Just the other night Hales and I were talking about the two and how Hales doesn’t trust Demetria. If she hears this…”

“She’s going to rub it in your face that she was right.”

“You know it. Let’s hope it’s not true.”

“Are you going to tell Kyle?”

I shrugged. “I was going to but now, I’m not sure if I should.”

“They’re about to get married next week. I think you need to say something.”

“And I need solid evidence to back up this accusation. I can’t just go to Kyle and tell him that his fiancée is once again lying to him.”

“Maybe you should get the proof you need before Kyle’s bachelor’s party.” Lamar suggested.

He patted me on the back before walking back inside. I looked up to the night sky, wondering how I could when I’m not even allowed to be on the case. I guess I’ll have to find a way.

  Hayley

It has been a week since the dinner at my parents’ and Morgan and I are back to the daily grind. Although the news about Travis is still fresh on our minds, we’re not letting it get to us as we continue to live our normal lives.

There was one thing that I was dreading, and that was going to Demetria’s bachelorette party. As much as I loved Kyle, I still think he’s making a big mistake marrying her. Call it women’s intuition, but I just had a bad feeling about her. Always have and always will.

It was later that week and with the day I was having, I was wishing for some much-needed time with my family. I was a bit surprised when Morgan called me, letting me know that he planned an impromptu date night for us. We haven’t done that since MJ was born, so I was definitely looking forward to it.

I was a little hesitant about it since my parents would have to watch MJ a bit longer, but my mom insisted that it was fine and for us to have fun. I loved my parents, so I will have to return the favor and have Ophelia spend the weekend with Morgan and me. I loved spending time with my little sister, so it’ll be fun.

Once 5 o’clock hit, I was the first one out the door as I rushed home. Morgan mentioned to wear something casual, so I already had an outfit in mind. Within an hour, I was ready to go as I checked my watch, wondering when Morgan was coming home. The door opened and he wal
ked in, already dressed in a black T-shirt and dark blue jeans.

“Before you say anything, I changed at work. I wanted to head out while it was still daylight.”

“Head out where?” I curiously asked.

“You’ll know in time. Might I add, you look beautiful,” he said as he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“It’s just jeans and T-shirt.” I jokingly replied.

“You can wear a burlap sack and still look good.”

I blushed and he took my hand. “Let’s go. I’ve planned the perfect night for us.”

  “Oh really?”

“Yes. I promise this will be a night that you’ll never forget.”

I smiled as Morgan led me outside. Sitting in the driveway was something that I wasn’t expecting, but was very excited to see.

“Yay!! I’m loving this date already!”

Morgan smiled. “I knew you would.”

I ran over to Morgan’s motorcycle as he hopped on first. I sat behind him and grabbed my helmet.

“I know you missed riding, so I figured I’ll bring this out for tonight.”

  “You read my mind.”

  “I do know my wife.”

I smiled and put the helmet on. I held onto him as he rode out of the driveway. I still didn’t know where we were going, but being able to have a ride on the open road was just enough for me.

I took in the scenery and the fresh air, loving the moment. I didn’t even realize how long Morgan was driving until we reached our destination. He stopped and pulled off his helmet. I did the same as he slowly got off the bike to help me.

“We’re at the beach?” I asked.

I don’t know why I asked when I saw the clear blue water ahead.

“What gave that away?” Morgan sarcastically replied.

I playfully shoved him and he grabbed me by the waist. He kissed the side of my neck, which made me smile.

“I thought we could spend some time at the place we said our vows at.”

My smile grew wider as I thought about our wedding day. It was wonderful, beautiful and everything that I could ever hoped for.

Morgan led me out to the corner of the beach and I saw a beautiful candle lit picnic. A string quartet was playing, which had me a bit surprised.
