Something Just Ain't Right 3 Page 9

I laughed as I got up from my chair. “Ain’t this about a bitch?!”

  “Morgan, let me explain.”

“Explain what?! You sat there when I explained everything to you and you went along with it as if that was the first time you heard it. You lied to me so you could still be loyal to my fucking mom!”

I looked around and saw several people looking at us. At this point, I didn’t care. Out of everyone, I really thought my uncle was being truthful to me. Now, he was like everyone else- a fucking liar.

“I’m really sorry, Morgan. I really didn’t think you would know about any of this, especially about the house. I know I shouldn’t had used it to my advantage, but Sophia has done a lot of damage to my brother so I wanted her to pay for it. Of course Caroline didn’t know then because I didn’t tell her.”

“Well, it’s a good thing you didn’t. Since you knew, were you going to turn me in?”

“I haven’t all of this time, so no.”

“Oh, I'm suppose to feel proud of that?”

“I wouldn’t have done it anyway. Craig was bad news, so it didn’t matter if he was killed. In fact, I applaud you for it.”

I shook my head and was about to walk when Uncle Rick touched my arm.

“Just know that everything that has happened was to protect you, Morgan. Your father loved you with all of his heart, so don’t ever feel that he abandoned you.”

I shrugged my arm from him. “What make you say that? I know he loved me.”

  “Just remember that, okay.”

Uncle Rick got up and gave a nod to Hayley before leaving. I sat back down and Hayley hugged me.

“I’m so sorry, Mo. I know all of this is a shock to you.”

“That’s not even the word for it.” I said as I looked outside. At this point, I don’t know what to believe, but I had a feeling this wasn’t the end of me finding out more about the people in my life.

After the disastrous meeting with my uncle, I needed to go back to the cabin. I didn’t want to talk to anyone; if I did, I’d probably snap on them. Hayley has been very supportive throughout everything and was there for me. Instead of talking, she just comfort me. The one thing I needed was to be close to her. I needed to touch her and feel her skin next to mine, which I was able to do the entire night. Just having her near me gave me something that I didn’t think I ever needed. I felt safe with her, which was something I never wanted to admit to. If I did, I would had thought I was being soft, but now, I don’t care. I’ll admit it to anyone that is listening that I needed her and I wasn’t ashamed to admit it.

It was the next day and I was still in bed thinking about what happened. I heard the shower running, which meant Hayley was in the bathroom. I was thinking about joining her when a breaking news story was coming on. I didn’t realize I left the TV on as I increased the volume. The area looked really familiar, which meant I needed to know what was happening.

“We just received news that a shooting occurred earlier this morning on Blalock and Jensen. The victim, a female in her mid-thirties was fatally shot outside of this building as she was coming to work.” The reporter announced while pointing to a building behind her.

“Hey, did you want breakfast…” Hayley asked before she stopped walking. I quickly looked at her before going back to watching the news. The building looked familiar because it was Kimbella’s practice. I visited during my first session before she started coming to the cabin.

“The female, Kimbella Conway, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Trinity Hospital about 30 minutes ago. According to police, the incident was not an act of a robbery or foul play. We will have more information regarding this shooting on our 5’o clock news. This is Sherice Porter, reporting.”

I looked up at Hayley who had a shocked look.

“Please don’t tell me that’s the same Kimbella that is your therapist.”

I looked back at the TV and sighed. “It was.”

“Oh my God. I’m so sorry, Morgan. Who would do a thing like that?”

  “This wasn’t an accident.”

Hayley looked confused to what I just said. “You don’t think this was deliberate, did you?”

“Don’t you find it kind of strange that when I made my revelation that she was killed the next day? Someone did this on purpose.”

“Morgan, Kimbella was a therapist. She had a lot of patients, so this could had been anyone who had done this.”

I shook my head. “No, it wasn’t. Evidentially, I’m getting closer to finding out something and Kimbella was helping me. They got to her to send a message.”

  “Morgan…”

“You think I’m being paranoid again? Well, now, I have a reason to be.”

I grabbed my phone and dialed Lamar’s number. It was time that we figure out what the hell to do before someone else’s life is destroyed.

  Hayley

I watched Morgan, Lamar, and Kyle in the living room piecing together some of the incidents that has occurred after Morgan killed Craig. When the two, along with Tamara, came by, Morgan admitted everything to them from Kimbella to what he discovered from Rick. Although everyone was shocked with Rick’s confession, everyone knew that somehow even the least likely person was keeping secrets. That goes to show that no one should be trusted. That’s something I had to remind myself, because lately, I have been slacking off. From immediately trusting Demetria to denying Sophia’s involvement in any of this shit, made me go back to the person I was, when actually, I should be the one putting my guard up for everyone.

  “Hey, are you okay?”

I looked over and saw Tamara standing beside me. She put her hand on my shoulder and I sighed.

“No. I have to wonder when all of this will end. We have been going through this for too damn long. We all should be able to live our lives and not always be on constant watch.”

  “I know what you mean.”

“Since this happened, do you think someone knows about me killing that guy.”

“I don’t know, sweetie. Right now, Paula was the only person, but for all we know, she could had told someone else besides Shantel.”

“Let’s not forget about her. She could be somewhere lurking around.”

“We definitely can’t rule her out. Hopefully someone will find her so she could be locked up with the rest of her crew.”

  “Let’s hope.”

“I have to ask, how do you feel about Kyle and Demetria? I know you haven’t been around much, but they made things official.” “Really, wow. They haven’t known each other that long.”

“I know, but Kyle is really stuck on her. It’s like he fell in love with her overnight.”

“Or he could be in love with something else.” I mumbled.

“I heard that. You’re not jealous of them, are you? You’re with Morgan, so no more of the infatuation with Kyle.”

“It’s nothing like that. I love Morgan and always will; Kyle is a nice guy and I just don’t want him to get hurt, that’s all.”

Tamara nodded when I looked over at the guys. They all have came a long way and are now closer than ever. I just don’t want something else to come in between them.

My phone started to beep and I glanced at it. I gave a wide smile to the text I received.

  “What is it?” Tamara asked.

“It’s my mom; she’s having the baby!”

“Wait, what!” Lamar exclaimed as he checked his phone too. “We have to go see them.”

“Mom said not to come. She knows we have classes in the morning, so she rather if we came over the weekend.”

“This calls for a celebration. You got any liquor, bro?” Kyle asked while going to the cabinets.

“I guess Aunt Doris kept some in stock.”

“You been here for six months, you should know.”

Morgan rolled his eyes as he went to the kitchen.

Kyle came up to me and smiled. “So, how does it feel to be a big sis?”

  “Good.
At least I’m not the youngest anymore.”

“So, how are you holding up with everything, especially since this has happened?”

“I’m okay; it’s Morgan you should be worried about.”

“You know I’m always going to be concerned about you too.”

I gave a tiny smile as I stared at Morgan filling shot glasses with whiskey. He looked over and gave me a wink before continuing.

“So word has it that you made it official with Demetria.”

  “Yeah. I really like her.”

“Don’t you think it’s kind of soon? You two only been together for almost two months.”

“I know, but I have this feeling that she’s the one, you know. I’m sure you were like that with Morgan when you first saw him.”

“I was five at the time, so probably not; but I thought he was cute.”

“Anyway, I really think she’s the one for me. I can’t say it’s love, but I think it could grow to it, eventually.”

  “Well, I’m happy for you.”

  “Are you?”

“I am, Kyle. Everyone deserve some sort of happiness, especially now with everything that’s happening; so if she makes you happy, then I’m all for it.”

  “Thanks, Hales.”

  “No problem.”

“I did tell her about everything that’s happening.” He blurted.

I looked at him as if he was crazy. “You did what? What the hell for?”

“I wanted to be honest with her, so I gave her a small version to what was going on with Morgan and with my mom. I didn’t tell her about what happened in Dallas or that you killed someone.”

“Well, I guess I should feel happy that you didn’t. I can’t believe you, Kyle.”

“I didn’t go into details about what happened. I was still upset about what my mom had said and I needed someone to talk to.”

“I understand that, but not to an outsider. For all we know, she could be working for someone to get information out of you.”

“Not everyone is out to get you and Morgan. There are some people who are actually normal.”

“Well, I haven’t encountered one in months.”

“Listen, I know you are paranoid about everything and everyone, but I assure you that Demetria is good. Just give her a chance.”

I shrugged and he smiled before going over to Morgan. Tamara came over to me and handed me a shot. “What was that about?”

“Just Kyle making a huge mistake.”

I get that he wanted to be with someone, but exposing majority of our dirty laundry was not the best thing to do. Hopefully he was right about Demetria. If not, then that’s someone else we needed to watch out for.

After drinking majority of the bottle of whiskey, Morgan and I insisted that everyone spend the night. While Tamara, Lamar, and Kyle all took both of the guest rooms, Morgan and I was in the living room watching TV. I was a little buzzed, which had me feeling good and fucking horny. I leaned over and kissed Morgan, which took him by surprise. I began kissing him on the neck and he gave a slight moan.

“Are you trying to start something right here?”

I gave a sexy grin while I pulled off his shirt. “Everyone is asleep, so they wouldn’t know.”

“We can at least take it to the bedroom.”

“Or we could stay right here.” I said and unbuttoned his jeans.

He smiled and leaned me back onto the couch. He pulled off my dress, revealing my naked body to him.

“Damn, I could never get tired of you.”

“You better not.” I whispered. I pulled him to me and pulled down his jeans. As soon as I felt him inside of me, a feeling went through me. Every time I’m with him, it felt like the first time we were together.

I spread my legs wider to feel every inch of him as he leaned my head back to kiss my neck. My nails were clawing his back as they made their way to his ass. He smiled as he bit the middle of my breast, which almost made me scream.

“That’s why we should had took it to the bedroom, because I need to hear you scream.” He whispered in my ear.

Once he started hitting my spot, I was gone. I couldn’t control my actions as my nails broke a bit of his skin.

“Fuck, Hayley.” He cussed while gripping the side of the couch. At that point, I didn’t care if I was about to be loud, he was fucking me too good right now.

Before I could even do it, he leaned down and roughly kissed me, I bit his lip, which made the intensity between us go even higher. My body began to spasm as I arched my back, feeling the sensation of my orgasm riding through me.

Morgan grunted against my ear and I felt him cumming inside of me. I stared at him as he touched his lip and smiled.

“Damn, girl. You spilt my lip.”

“I couldn’t help it. You were fucking me too good.”

“I was, wasn’t I?” He replied with a sexy grin.

  “Cocky, much.”

  “You said it, I didn’t.”

He pulled me up so we both could sit on the couch. I grabbed a blanket that was nearby to cover myself up in case someone decided to walk into the living room as he kissed my forehead.

“Baby, just know that whatever happens that I will always love you.”

I glanced at him, wondering why he would say that.

“I know you do, just like I always will. You’re saying this as if something will happen.”

“Hales, a lot has happened in the past couple of months and there’re still things that we don’t know about. Not only that, but we still have to deal with Craig’s murder and the guy you killed. Eventually, something is going to happen that could bring a lot more issues.”

“It won’t if we’re careful. Mo, no one probably knows what happened with that guy except Paula. I might can get away with it.”

“What if you don’t? I don’t want you going to prison for my shit.”

“Who said that I am? Morgan, you have to believe that everything will be okay. Yes, there were a couple of setbacks, but I know in my heart that things will get better. We will be able to live our lives without any issues or people trying to ruin it.”

  “I hope so.”

“I know so. Besides, we should be happy right now. There’s a new Stevens in the world now.”

“That’s true. And I’m sure she looks just as beautiful as her big sister. Do you know what your parents will name her?”

  “Ophelia.”

Morgan glanced at me as if he wanted to laugh. “Ophelia.”

“Don’t laugh; that name is actually my grandmother’s. My mom wanted to honor her, so she did.”

  “It’s a beautiful name.”

I leaned back as Morgan held me. Just the feel of his arms around me made me feel safe. I hope I could always feel like this for the rest of my life.

  Demetria

I can’t believe I’m doing this shit! I supposed to been studying, but instead, I was at a back alley waiting on the person who put me to work on this scheme to destroy Morgan and Hayley.

Although Shantel was the spokeswoman for the plan, she wasn’t the mastermind. This was the first time I was meeting up with this person. Although I had heard stories about her and even interacted with her through phone calls and texts, I didn’t know what she was capable of and honestly, I really didn’t want to find out.

I began to pace against my car while looking at the street ahead. She said she was arriving soon, but that was 20 minutes ago. If she doesn’t come in the next 10 minutes, I was fucking ghost.

I was about to go get in my car when I saw one approaching mine. I became nervous, knowing this was the person. I slowly closed the door and stood beside it, praying that this meeting would go well so I could go about my way. I already didn’t want to do this from the beginning, but unfortunately, I was too involved in it. Whether I wanted to get out, I don’t think it was possible now.

She got out of the car and approached me with a smile. I glanced at her, wondering if I should introduc
e myself or just start talking. She knew who I was, so I guess an introduction wasn’t necessary.

  “Demetria.”

  “Hi…”

“Let’s get to it. Did you find out anything from anyone about what Morgan is up to?”

“I talked to Kyle; he told me everything from what happened with Craig to now.”

“Did he mention anything about Hayley and the shooting?”

“He didn’t go into details about that.”

“Don’t you think you need to get him to? We have to find evidence that she did kill your father. If we don’t she would never be punished for it.”

“I understand that you want to seek whatever revenge you want on Morgan, but why Hayley? I don’t see the point.”

The woman stepped closer to me and sighed. “Because there’s a bigger issue I have with her family. There’re some things that happened that hasn’t been resolved.”

  “Like what?”

“I rather not talk about that with you right now. Trust me, it will all be revealed eventually.”

I tugged on my jacket sleeve and sighed. “I’ll do what I can to get more information from

  everyone.”

“You do that. I didn’t pay you that money for you to screw everything up. If you even try to reveal anything to them, I will kill you, understand.”

I swallowed a huge lump in my throat as she walked away. She turned around and gave me a huge smile.

“Oh, and by the way, nice jacket.” She complimented, before going to her car.

As soon as she got in and sped off, I quickly ran over near the dumpster and threw up my dinner. I walked away and leaned against my car, not sure what else to do. I pretty much screwed my own self over and I only had myself to blame. I could had been like Leslie and said no to the entire plan, but my weak ass looked at the money and nothing else.

I really hope Morgan knew who he was dealing with when it came to his mom, because she was definitely evil and she wasn’t going to stop until she seeks revenge on everyone, including her own damn son.
